2022 US New Star Vocal Competition Judge

Mezzo-soprano Rebecca Braun holds her B.M. from The Juilliard School and her M.M. from Boston Conservatory. She most recently served as the cantorial soloist at Temple Beth El in Muncie, IN and collaborated with her husband, double bassist Joel Braun in recitals at Anderson University (Anderson, IN) and Ball State University (Muncie, IN).

She has sung in the Opera New Jersey, Lake George Opera to Go (now Opera Saratoga), Aspen Opera Center, and Seagle Music Colony young artist programs. Her operatic roles include Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus, Clarina in Rossini's La cambiale di matrimonio, Myrrhine in Adamo's Lysistrata, Meg in Little Women, Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro, Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream, and Lucretia in The Rape of Lucretia among others. Additionally, she has appeared in recital at New York's Alice Tully Hall and Paul Hall and has served as a chorus member with Opera Boston and Boston Lyric Opera.

Rebecca has dedicated much of her professional career to supporting and promoting music in higher education. She recently served as the Assistant to the Director of Outreach and Recruitment in the Ball State University School of Music. Previous positions held also include the Coordinator of Music Promotional Services at Ball State University and the Performance Activities Coordinator at The Juilliard School's Pre-College Division. Rebecca currently resides in Austin, TX with her husband and two children.
