Rules and Application Instructions

APPLICATION FOR 2013 US New Star Piano Competition is currently closed. The results will be announced second week of January, 2013.

Please read the following information thoroughly before filling out the application. Failure to comply with the following rules may result in disqualification. The US New Star Piano Competition will be held via .mp4 file submissions.

To apply, fill out the application form. Application forms must be printed clearly.

 

Video and Music Requirements

Applicants must prepare two songs of contrasting musical periods; one must be of Classical or Baroque style. The music recording must be clear and free of background noise. The submitted video may not be used for any purposes except for submission in the competition. The video may not be edited. All recordings sent will not be returned and will be the sole property of US New Star Music, LLC. US New Star Music, LLC reserves the right to post the winners and their videos to its public website.
Applicants may submit videos through DVD,e-mail or google drive link in mp4 format. Applicants must indicate their choice on the application form. DVDs must be mailed enclosed with application forms and payments. DVDs must be clearly labeled with the applicant’s name. Applicants may also submit their videos via e-mail to competition@usnsmc.org as .mp4 attachments or google drive link to mp4 files. Applicants choosing to do so must change the subject of the e-mail to ‘Audition Video: (Name Goes Here)’.

Age Groups:

There are 5 age groups:

7 and under, 8-9, 10-11, 12-13, 14-15.

Time Limitation:

There is no time restrictions for either piece.

Dates and Fees:

All applications, fee and audition videos must be postmarked no later than December 14th, 2013. The entry fee for the New Star Music Competition is $38. An early payment discount of $10 is available if the application is submitted prior to November 30th, 2013. There is also an additional $20 processing fee for non-US residents.

 

Application fees must be paid by check or money order made out to US New Star Music, LLC. The application fees are non-refundable.

Winners:

The winners of the New Star Music Competition will be announced on usnsmc.org shortly after the deadline. The adjudicators will be professional musician(s), unaffiliated with US New Star Music, LLC. Adjudicator(s) will select winners for each age group. Decisions of the adjudicator(s) are final. The winners and their videos will be posted on the US New Star Music Competition website. The winners of the US New Star Piano Competition will each receive a certificate, and the First Prize winners will receive a cash prize of $100.
